Ok I have just finished watching Season 8 on dvd

Room for Spoolers

In the final Episode where Magnum resigns to Higgins, Higgins admits he is
Robin Masters. Later at the wedding Higgins says he lied.

My personal view is Higgins is Robin. Why? Well would Higgins be allowed as
care taker of Robin's Nest be allowed put on so many different events at the
nest without Robin's say so. While it's possible for Robin to allow this it
does not seem right to me.

You'd be wrong.

That whole plot point was the weakest piece of story development in the
8 years the show was on. The writers threw it out there for some humor,
but it so badly fit into everything else, it was horrible.

Too many things earlier in the series simply made it impossible.

In the end, the writers knew that--and in the end, had Higgins fess up.
He lied.

The only possibility that makes sense (IF Higgins was Robin), is the
following, IMO;

Higgins, being the proper British fellow, was embarrased that he made a very
lucrative career out of writing "pulp" (instead of his more serious
writings, i.e. his memoirs).

So...........he disguised himself behind a pen name and he hired the fellow
that played Robin, to do just that. Make appearances, etc.............to
keep things looking as if Higgins was not actually Robin.

That would explain Robin's appearances in the early years.................we
will never know, I guess.

In my world, I like to think of Higgins as Robin.

Another idea that often appeared was that Magnum was in fact Robin
Masters, and that Higgins was only stretching the truth saying he had
met Robin in person.

What would be the point of hiring security and maintenance for a property
you only go to like once a year if you don't allow it to be used for
social functions?

Higgins being Robin would screw up too many stories lines. You could
argue that Higgins kept up the ruse to hide his identity and that's how
it all fits together but, for example, in Season One the J. "Digger"
Doyle episode, Higgins pretended to be Robin to protect Robin. If Robin
is really just an actor and Higgins is the real deal then why risk death?
It makes no sense even with that theory.
