HI, Folks,
I didn't realize that it has been about ten years since I posted
regularly. I had another project going.. a demanding
medication.......and am happy to report that it works. I just had to
get thru the side effects.
The story of Manti Te'o has called this group to my mind; We have
become close to some few people online. . . and never see
them . . . . .. Or even know if they are real.
I want to report that I may fit the classic profile of a hoaxter
seeking sympathy... what with my aches and pains, and even a
(harmless) brain aneurysm. But I am real. I exist.
Over almost twenty years, I have met Dave Romas, and Marco Smetz as
they visited here, and it was so great !! after years of
correspondence, we picked up face-to-face as old friends.
I almost got to see Tanis Brookes, from Vancouver, but my aches and
pains were acting up.
I have had contact with Anim8rfsk... Freddy in Phoenix. . . .for so
many years that I think I could recognize him on the street. It may
seem odd, but Romas and I did just that, recognized one another
downtown for a meet-up. Had never seen one another in life, before.
I have never visited the "Butterfly Farm, ' but I have met "Art, from
Metro Detroit,' and his girlfriend Georgia. Have never met Rollie in
FL or Morrone... the newlywed....... but all of us have seen one
another thru life's events for so long that we can sympathize with a
kid from Kahuku who just wants to play football and have some
connection with The Big World.
ANYHOO. . .I am real, and you all know who you are. . . . . You can
contact me and we can hoist one at Dukes', or hike to a waterfall for
photos...... and if my aches and pains are acting up, I can at least
direct you to places tourists never see.
I have yet to see any backlash at Scott Caen's remarks about living in
Hawaii, but I expect the Kama'aina and Native Hawaiians on the Five-O
crew might start spilling things, or leaving things that trip stars
up, or losing hairpieces . . .
If I read of such events, I will let you know. I think that Scott
Caaen dissing the life here is the best advert that Hawaii could have
for people who want to leave the Mainland Culture.
As for Mantei Te'o, he seems to have ohana, family, pulling for him
here. Kahuku has a concentration of Mormon Native Hawaiian families,
very close knit and supportive.. And the kid really did lose his
grandmother.
After ten years of being busy and losing track of time. . . I have
taken a self-portrait with my mysterious iPad......and have yet to
figure out how I did it. But I can see with the camera's unprejudiced
eye, that I am now an old woman, and look it. I am 76, and in naked
room light. I sure am 76.
But I can go 3 miles in 20 minutes on my exercycle, and have bigger
biceps than when I was a high-school swimmer because I keep dumbbells
beside my old-lady rocker.
If they say 70 is the new 50 , I guess you can believe it. I feel
better than in years. . . but the sun damage has caught up, despite
sunscreen for the past 30 years. I just hope that I don't age into
one of those old women who scare little kids. If I get even close to
that, I will head for whoever takes care of stars' faces when they
come over here for months.
so folks, use your bodies. . . you will feel so much better for it.
Wear hats. Use sunscreen I am currently working on the leap from
"Cobra Pose" to a squat, necessary to get to a standing position on a
surfboard. If I can't do that leap, there is no point in my taking a
lesson. Meantime, my body-surfing skills have burned deep into my
DNA. I plan to body-surf with great-grandchildren in Malibu, and give
Scott Caan the finger as I pass by.
